East of Garmisch-Partenkirchen, high above Lake Kochel, lies the Open-Air Museum Glentleiten. There, you not only have a stunning view of the mountains, but also an insight into the lives of the people of the region from the early modern period to the present. Houses, mills, workshops, and alpine huts are preserved in their original state. Traditional crafts such as lace-making, spinning, jewelry making, coppersmithing, coopering, bread baking, whetstone making, and carpentry come to life during the craft demonstrations.
