Grainau lies at the foot of Germany's highest mountain, the Zugspitze. Adjacent to Garmisch-Partenkirchen, the municipality counts a whole series of unique sights in Germany. The cable car, inaugurated in 2017, impresses with its panoramic gondola and overcomes the almost 2000 metres in height in 10 minutes.
Germany's highest ski resort is located on the Zugspitzplatt in winter. A total of 5 lifts are operated so that approx. 20 km of fun on the slopes can be experienced. There are also attractive routes for ski tourers, so that the ski area is suitable for beginners as well as for ski professionals.
Top 2: Eibsee
The Eibsee is considered the most beautiful lake in the Bavarian Alps. Its proximity to the municipality of Grainau makes it ideal for spontaneous day trips. A leisurely walk along the well-developed hiking trails around the lake takes about 2 hours and offers a variety of breathtaking motifs due to its reflective water surface.
Top 3: Höllenklamm
In addition to a whole series of striking valleys in the municipality of Grainau, the Höllental is particularly striking. This beautifully situated valley is part of the Zugspitze massif and offers a very special excursion destination with the Höllenklamm.
