The Ettal Abbey

Between Garmisch-Partenkirchen and Oberammergau lies Ettal, where the monastery and Benedictine abbey were founded in 1330. In 1752, the associated Rococo church with its 52-meter-high dome was completed. Today, the abbey houses a high school with boarding facilities, as well as a brewery, a distillery producing liqueurs, and various restaurants.
