Mittenwald offers the opportunity for a leisurely shopping stroll, complemented by the backdrop of old Upper Bavarian houses. Rich floral decorations, frescoes, Lüftl and facade paintings, old gate facades, and houses with barrel vaults make the stroll through the town an experience of traditional Bavarian architecture. Mittenwald is also known as the “Living Picture Book” because it has preserved its historic appearance to this day. Mittenwald has produced excellent violin makers and still hosts a renowned school for instrument making.
